But you know what I find even more amazing than how much this diamond was bought for? Reasonably you would assume someone wouldn't spend everything they had on this. Which means they must be a very wealthy person.

I just don't really get the whole bigger diamond means "I love you more"?... I guess I am just the type of person that believes that love is not measured by money. I hope the person that received that diamond really enjoys it and every time they look down at it little starving children's faces stare right back up at them, because for the amount that was spent purchasing that diamond they could of donated the money and fed some starving children for a year or more.

Very good points. All that money spent on a single stone, something that could get lost or stolen. Money that could have been used in much better ways. Not to mention I'd be scared to go around with 9.5 mil sitting on my finger!

My engagement ring and my wedding band have diamonds, but also significant personal meaning. My husband chose a unique and beautiful design for me in the engagement ring, and I chose the band that goes with it. They are special for reasons bigger than any diamonds.

I say "if " there was a divorce that all the proceeds go to feeding the homeless , but that is my own opinion ..not like its going to happen with money hungry greedy sobs like that.

That is a really good idea! But you're right, it probably won't happen, the money will go instead to thier big mansion, fancy new cars and all the other things rich people need to be in the "in" crowd...

Diamonds are waaaaaayyyyyyy tooooooo overpriced as it is. I hope it winds up being worth it.
