Not that I don't want to do my part for California by supplying them with extra money through taxes that are taking advantage of my addiction, but I'm thinking of quitting again. Quitting cold only works for me when I'm not around the influence anymore, zyban has lost it's effects, and I hate the gum and patch. I've been hearing more and more about the e-cigarette and I was wondering if any of you have friends that have tried this thing and what are the cons of it. There's a couple videos up on youtube where some people talk about the experience but I'm waiting to hear the costs from the start up kit to the continued use.

I have never really heard about e-cigarettes till this post. Since I am a smoker I decided to check it out. It seems a little costly in my opinion with the start up pack at $149.00 and 5 cartridges at 12.50 for 5 . Who am I to critize the cost when I am going through a pack a day at $5.25 a pack so it might be worth it for what I spend a week in Marlboros. I am just wondering how many times you can use each cartridge ?

From what I've seen off the videos, the cartridge just holds the dosage, so I would think you could keep reusing it till it gets cruddy.

From a friend on another forum

Has anyone seem or tried these yet? I went to the mall the other day to kill some time and I walked by these two guys who were smoking. As I felt that a bit odd I told the service desk about it. I'm normally not a "tattle tale" . I was told "No, no. It's cool. Go check it out." by security. So I did. They had a little kiosk set up with a demo video and even some samples. I tried the cigarette and it tasted just like a Swisher Sweet cigar! Wild. Apparently the "smoke" is vaporized water. There are different filters to use with different flavors and you can even get them with nicotene to get your "fix" if needed. They come in cigar and pipe form too. This is a pretty wild invention. I told my girlfriend about it and she said she is going to buy one for me because she doesn't like me smoking cigars. They are kind of expensive ($120-220 depending on which one you get) but cool nonetheless.
