I titled this topic that because you probably are too.

Mine has an energy saver feature on it. I thought everyone's did, but I suppose it would save even more if I were to pull the plug or flip the surger switch off on it everynight.

I've been told to that turning off the monitor saves on it user life. I really just like it on as sort of company though, mm... it's as if it's alive. Creepy huh?

you dont have to pull the plug or do the serger switch, just a regular shut off using the "turn off computer" thats found after clicking the windows thing on the low left should be good enough... On the other hand you could just keep using the energy saver, its really whatever you prefer to do...

I on the other hand already know that keeping the comp running when its not needed it wasted energy... I mean really, computer runs on electric, longer running un needed computer means more electric, more electric means higher bill... I thought every one knoew that but I guess I was wrong since a whole blog is needed to tell people to shut off... not to mention you wipe your temp memory (ram) when your comps sut orr or restart which helps keep from lagging some times, it can't stop all lag but still, the lag from not enough memory it can...

I just close the lid and put my computer to sleep which shuts everything off

Apparently sleep mode still sucks power.

Mine's a laptop, so I close the lid when I'm not using it.

Sad to say I am one of those "people" that do not turn of the pc at night (it goes into sleep mode and I turn off the monitor ) Good thing is that I don't have to worry about paying electric or any utilities at all because they are included in my rent.
