| I love the 20s, 40s, 50s and 80s look. For inspiration I love to look back from different eras and some modern looks. You defiantly can see what inspires me in my section of the news letter.
There are some movies/TV shows that have inspired me to experiment with incorporating different styles into my clothing, but usually I mix lots of different elements together.
For makeup I just have fun. Its like painting! my face is my canvas! |

| I love the 50s tattooed rockabilly style with box jackets and swingy skirts but at heart I'm a rip it all up, tear it around sort of old punk. I would have to say that Siouxsie has inspired me above anybody else. I spent 20 years with a birds nest on my head to prove it Apart from that I'm just your friendly neighbourhood freak who just tries something out and if it works for me then it works. I have an obsession with the 80's for sure, but I have tried so hard to rock a birds nest but the hair is too long. But thanks to the Aqua Net hair spray I can have some volume. |

| I trained mine for so many years that it naturally dried vertically! Soap or sugar and water also helped. We weren't as spoilt with styling products back then _________________ Well, the Devil he taught us how to rock and then he turned us loose |

| I still love the costumes from the Medieval and Renaissance period, but they are rather difficult to infuse into modern fashion. A gothized bliaut or cothardie would probably be fairly easy to do. _________________ I'm a werewolf, not a vampire! |

| @ vampira I don't look to Idols I just look around me, for example, sunday my outfit was inspired by the idea of posh spinsters with a fur coat and pearls and a nice hat but I put a spin on it by wearing my UV blue fur coat and including a PVC corset and plasters over my neck |

| For the sake of full disclosure: I'm an art history major. When I was grading freshman essays for a semester there was a problem student. When I talked to him, he was like "I'm an artist. I don't need art history." I said "You're an artist. Art history is who came before you. Like, who are your influences?" He said "I don't have influences- I creates something new, revolutionary and different."
The problem: His art was sucky, warmed-over Jackson Pollock. But he refused to see it, because he refused to acknowledge history.
Up to that point I thought I didn't dress like anyone else. Then I realized that even though I put my own flair on things, it's important to know the past, if only to know what you're up against and what's been done.
So I now believe in influences. I don't let them own me, but I'd rather not ignore the past completely. |

| Thats exactly what I am on about Emmature.
I study textiles and so I guess thats why I can see the inspiration in my clothing more obviously even after I have chosen it. |

An artist wannabe celebrity with an overblown sense of self-importance? Never met any of those!
I agree re: influences. We're all the result of direct and indirect influences, and the spin we put on them makes us unique.
A few of mine: Sophia Loren http://www.greatitalians.com/sofia.htm Elves in general http://www.filmposters.it/imgposter/grandi/arwen.jpg And a bit of Lara http://opinionsandexpressions.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/lara_croft_tomb_raider.jpg |

| [quote="RedAngel"] An artist wannabe celebrity with an overblown sense of self-importance? Never met any of those! I'm sure he has no influences when it comes to being a jerk either. I love your influences- they're so diverse- each is beautiful in a different, wonderful way. I've been influenced by so many different people and things! *Note, after spending over half an hour trying to compile a list, I give up. I'll try again later when I'm more clearheaded. |

| It's not exactly fashion but I was inspired by this flash video to get a ballerina music jewelry box so I can paint it black and "goth" up the ballerina. The jewelry box I am looking at is quite practical because it has hangers for my necklaces and chokers. _________________ I'm a werewolf, not a vampire! |
