My best friend saved me from my stalker and I wanted to thank him. He's been wanting a new look for his entertainment room. I know that I want to move his pool table next to the couch and the air hockey table on the right hand side of the room. My question is what should I do with the walls? I paint rooms in my spare time and I want to add something that stands out and I have no idea what color or colors the room should be. I'd ask him but he has to stay in bed and I want it to be a surprise. I know I want to put up a few paintings. Any advice?

| RED! (a darker shade...like maroon?)
It makes the green of the pool table pop, it's interesting...and "manly" enough. |

I have buckets of blood red, this really dark red and maroon. The room was originally white, boring.

^I would suggest that! If you really want to make it unique, you could paint the walls red, and then go over two of them with black vertical stripes...

I was actually considering stripes but i didn't know if it was a good idea or not. I guess it was. Thanks!

Painter's tape can help out with achieving those stripes, but you will need to remove the tape before the paint dries or else it will chip off parts of the paint.

Can you get that painter tape from places like Home Depot or Lowes?

Oh yeah. They come in green and blue. It's kinda like masking tape but not as adhesive.

^Keep in mind though, painter's tape is a bit pricey! But if you want sharp clean lines, it's a good investment.

They have had painter's tape in commercials.

Heh, I always turn from commercials, so that could be why I haven't seen any of them.

Even though do have "squares" you can just cut too pieces and create a corner.

It's surprising the things I have yet to learn. I plan on starting to do the painting sometime tomorrow.

I would say when you finish painting the room the base color, add like a gold on top or a black outline for an added picture over the background color.

That's a good idea. I'll probably go with the black since he hates gold. After i'm all done with the paint job, i'm going to add these neat paintings that he owns but won't put up.

Although gold is oftentimes recommended for red, I think black would go better.

Me too. Brian hates gold with a passion. I say it's the vamp in him, which is why I chose a shade of red for the room.

| My room in my parent's house is a maroon red and the only gold in it are the sheers curtains. The trim is an off-white.

That's the color I chose for the room. It has black curtains. Wish I had a camera on me.
