I didnt like any of those clothes featured, I really hate fashion designers getting a hold of the Gothic look because they cannot pull it off for me. Now there bringing out "Gothic" sun glasses dear god, what Goth wears rhinestones? sick

See I didn't like the sunglasses but most of the designs I liked. See I think one thing that one must bear in mind when looking at haute couture is that it isn't intended for every day wear or even necessarily wear off of the catwalk, depending on how OTT it is. Its art that happens to be clothing.

I've got mixed feelings about the exhibit. I like seeing Goth fashion explored and discussed in a more mainstream environment, where it could theoretically be appreciated, but the people doing the exploring should actually be looking at it from the "inside" as much as possible -- for example, designers talking to real live goths ( shock ) and essentially doing their research on the subject that's inspiring them. I'm not too sure they're doing that -- probably wouldn't be cost efficient or something. Rolling Eyes

Similarly, there's an article in Self magazine this month about being vegetarian. Ill-informed, but good that there's at least some dialogue about it.

Red, I just read that article. I noticed they had to put a few things in there in order to not lose their "Got Milk?" sponsorship... Rolling Eyes

I really enjoyed watching it but I cant understand the fact that they seemed to think that if you plaster a f**k off cross on something then it's automatically gothic

Loved the references to Horace Walpole and Oscar Wilde though! heart

*synth still continues to defend haute couture*

I agree with hateing the stupid crosses Buuuuut In reference to not talking to real life goths i feel thats due to the fact that it isn't us or our fashion which inspires them but the imagery from gothic tales, aesthetics from the films created of them, from gothic architecture and so and and so forth...
