I want to see the movie for a number of reasons. I'm excited about it, but I'm willing to accept it might be a total train wreck. One way to find out.

I just read a review of Burton's "Alice."

Looks like one annoying and predictable mistake is going to be made again: they're blending the Queen of Hearts and the Red Queen.

Best described by Wiki:
"The Queen of Hearts is commonly mistaken for the Red Queen who appears in the story's sequel, Through the Looking-Glass, but shares none of her characteristics other than being a queen. The Queen of Hearts is part of the deck of card imagery which is present in the first book while the Red Queen is representative of a red chess piece as chess is the theme present in the sequel. Many adaptations have mixed the characters, causing much confusion."

Way to run with the uneducated pack, guys. Arrgh! I'm disappointed already!

Just saw Alice. It's not bad, but it's not Carroll's stories. My biggest gripe is that they call it "Alice in Wonderland."

OK -- has anyone seen "Hook" with Robin Williams? It's about Peter Pan having grown up and returning to Neverland. That's basically what's going on in "Alice." So if you go into it thinking "it's what may have happened to Alice if she went back to Wonderland at 19 years old,", you'll enjoy it much more. Also, it kind of becomes Lord of the Rings (er, wtf). The closer to the end it gets, the more it looks like the LOTR movies in many scenes. I started to think, This isn't an homage; Burton just really wishes he directed those.

It's worth seeing if only for Anne Hathaway. I loved how she played her chararcter (even if she did look eerily like Burton's ex)!

Now I understand that the film isn't going to be released for quite some time, due in part to it's only beginning casting and principle shooting of locations. But Christopher Nolan has confirmed the two villains in the next Batman film.

Tom Hardy will play Bane

Anne Hathaway will play Selina Kyle aka Catwoman

The original plan for the film was to have the story take place two years after the second film, Bruce Wayne built a new Arkham Asylum on an island in the bay of Gotham City, so he could keep his eye on the Joker as both Batman and Bruce Wayne. Bruce would visit Joker often as Batman, but during his visits he would be analyzed by Joker's new friend Scarecrow, who states he's jealous that Joker has become a pop phenomenon and a cult hero around the world, while Batman is hated by the people he tries to help . A serial killer, Mr Zsasz from the first film, would start murdering people in the suburbs around Gotham and leave roman numerals carved into them. Batman's mission to stop this killer is judged by Joker and Scarecrow, who think the only reason why Batman wants to stop Mr Zsasz is to get the people of Gotham to love him again, because he's selfish. The core morality of the film was to be: can you do the right thing, for the wrong reasons, and it still be good? While Batman is on the case, Joker and his personal psychiatrist Harlene who have become romantic, come up with a plan to break out of Arkham, by giving Scarecrow enough needles and chemicals to cause a riot. When Batman and Gordon arrive with Zsasz, Scarecrow has turned the asylum into a warzone, and while Batman gains his popularity back by catching the serial killer and stopping the riot, Joker escapes under everyone's nose.

That awesome storyline has been scrapped, because Nolan and Goyer had a plan to keep the core villains of Joker and Scarecrow for the third film, bring back minor character Mr Zsasz, and only introduce Harley and the Warden as new main characters. The ending would have left an opening to have the Joker return later in a possible fifth film to face Batman, while the forth film would then finally introduce brand new villains. They've moved right to what was supposed to be the forth film's storyline, because of what happened to Heath Ledger, and they're going to make changes to the time-line of course.

Tom Hardy is going to have to put on a lot of weight to play Bane, but I think Christopher Nolan and David Goyer are going to once again create an amazing storyline using Frank Miller's rejuvenated Batman story-arc

^^ I'm definitely looking forward to it, and all the more so to see Anne Hathaway as Catwoman/Kyle. I can't wait to see her performance!

Ohhhhhhh for the Brits, if you enjoyed 'East is East' then watch out for the second part 'West is West'.

That Red Riding Hood film is real suspect, it has Amanda Seyfried as the lead, who's always sexy. Plus you've got heavyweights like Gary Oldman, Julie Christie and Virginia Madsen, which give the film some real actors to watch, but as soon as I saw "From the Director of Twilight", I rolled my eyes so hard I nearly moved back in time. That Twilight film I sat through while working on my sculpture last year was atrocious, just a terrible film, so that doesn't vote well for this flick.
