Shell Oil Company accidentally films a sea monster at a depth of 2.5km

The odd, "elbowed" squid was filmed 11/11/07, at a depth of 2.5 kilometres by the Shell Oil Company who were using an ROV (Remotely operated vehicle) in the Gulf of Mexico.

The footage they have of this creature is pretty interesting too.

Wow... that thing looks friggin cool, and "alien" definitely is a great description for it.
Just goes to show that not all the mysteries of the Earth have been uncovered... perhaps we should put equal resources into Space Exploration as well as Underwater Exploration - who knows what else lies down below where previous technology was unable to travel.
Sure, we can "assume" nothing lives after a point of depth so deep... but who knows how nature has adapted over the millennia.
