Oh no, not Turkey Day again!

Spending it at my parents. My mom's making her usual roast pork, rice and peas, and potato salad. She's inviting my in-laws again this year, which kinda sucks because she has to go out of her way to make extra dishes for them...they don't eat Puerto Rican food.

The usual cooking and cleaning. I have to go and see the in-laws for a bit* will be dragging her feet to the car* Then I will come home and get the turkey out of the over and have Dinner with my family.

Which day is thanksgiving again?

I'll be doing a function at work.

Nope, we don't have... November is pretty much a dead month for holidays. All Saints Day the 1th, Day of the Dead the 2nd and somewhere in the middle the festival of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá in the Western region (I live in the Central region, so it doesn't apply)

We Canadians like having it on a Monday so we get a 3 day weekend.
My parents didn't make anything this year.

Well the kids usually get Wed before off and they do not return to school till the following Monday. Then they have school for 2 weeks then they are off again for Christmas .

^We Americans take it one day further so we can get a four or five day weekend. Most people take the day before to travel, and the day after to recover. After that, we still have the weekend.

Oh the Macy's day parade it would not be complete with out watching Garfield coming down the street.

Ugh...I hate the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Love the ballons....but I hate it when they televise it on TV and show the stupid singing and dancing numbers by children. I hate hate HATE song and dance numbers by children. I am such a curmudgeon.

Oy! I'm being dragged to my husband's family's house for Thanksgiving. I like his family, but I was really looking forward to my mom's roast pork. I hope she saves me some.

Not many years of Family Holidays left to experience before I'm truly on my own and it's up to me to keep the name and traditions alive.

So... going north about 45 minutes to my old home town, the house I grew up in, and spending time with mom, dad, and my brother & his wife...
Though there's a chance we're going to their house this year...

Either way, nothing beats spending time with the family over a home cooked meal.
roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos and brown gravey, fresh buttermilk rolls, cranberry jello, corn... Football...

Oh yeah...can't forget the football

Not looking forward to all the loud football fans in this house. Can't wait for the yummy food though.

I'll be spending the early part of the day cooking. Then I shall eat. And then I'll probably have to go back to working on assignments for school. With the semester ending soon, I am going to be drowning in work...
