Poor is not the word. Neutral Everything my son wants this Christmas is way out of my budget (his birthday is this month also) so I am going somewhat big for his birthday with one gift and then getting one big gift for Christmas for him. But they are things he wants so I know he will be happy. Smile

It's the year of the $10-20 gift cards to everyone else's favourite/most used stores.

Too true. I'm going to have to broach the subject of presents with work colleagues because I have about seven of them that I usually buy for at about a tenner a time.

I refuse to spare expense for the girls though, I'll just stick it on the credit card and forget about it until January when the bill comes in

No hopes on earth for a bonus from work this year, the only "bonus" is the works christmas party and to be quite honest I would rather stick pins in my eyes than have the senior partner groping me on the dancefloor again sick

I'm considering boycotting christmas. I can't stand the over-saturation of it. I mean they're watching #@%$^& The Santa Clause right now in the break room for pete's sake.

But if I do it it will be next year :-) More time for my family and friends to get used to the idea.

The commercialism gets old real quick but I still enjoy the aesthetics of it. The decorations are just so pretty.

I kinda lost the holiday spirit when my dad died. Now it feel like every other day out of the year, but you still get crummy gifts. I kinda wish I had that sparkle for it again.

I am so NOT looking forward to the company holiday party this year. They held it at a fancy hotel last year, but the food was mediocre at best, and the mood was rather blah. I think I'll skip it this year.

The thing I hate even more is the department holiday party. As if going to the company party isn't bad enough, they insist on each department having their own party at the office, and each person has to bring a dish. Our deparetment has it in the evaluation room (my office) and me and my boss are stuck rearrainging the tables and testing materials. Rolling Eyes I'm definitely taking a sick day or using vaction time that day.

Last year was the first time that myself ans co-workers made plans to go out to eat for Christmas.
We plan on doing it again. We just have to decide where.
    No staff parties for me.

    sosad

Yule/Christmas is going to suck again this year...
But New Years Eve is going to suck a lot worse than normal...
I hate this holiday... I hate it so much... it's the same crap year after year so I don't know why I ever get my hopes up. Maybe I'll at least get that gaming system I want... or peoplenip.... peoplenip would be more useful though...

So I might be going to a staff party.
I do casual work at the Art Gallery so I guess I'm not considered staff tongue
But I am dating staff. Michael says the only way he'll go is if his boss/supervisor goes.
There are different departments and he works for building maintenance.
He gets a long really well with him. The only reason he wants to go is to get his foot in the door, so too speak at the gallery. He is currently hired on for casual work (even though he has been doing full time hours for the past couple of weeks) when the events die down, so does work.
So he figures if he goes, people will see he takes the place seriously, and the powers that be might give him a permanent possession.

And I just realized I have one more paycheck to finish off my Christmas shopping and buy all the other Christmas stuff I need (baking goodies ans wrapping supplies)
shock shock shock shock shock shock shock
