In all honesty, I would rather be dirt poor living on the streets (actually, I would probably be in a "shelter" before I did streets) and doing something I loved for the rest of my life than doing something I hate just because it makes money of varying amounts.
Granted, if I had someone else in my life... I'd put my dream on slow and bare my teeth so I could provide for those I love... but I wouldn't put my dreams on hold or complete stop for any reason.

So I say if you want to be a writer... get a trailer and learn how to live off the land... heck, may be able to use such experiences in your writing later on for a sense of more "realism" or something.

I was very worried earlier this evening because my Mother-in-law was taken into hospital with chest pains

We just got the call from my Father-in-law that everything is fine and they suspect that she has pulled a muscle in her chest by lugging great big sacks of garden waste around the place. Daft bat!
