One of my friends at work had the "sequel" to "Age of Apocalypse" written a few years back as a six issue mini-series. It's more or less one of those "ten year anniversary" things celebrating ten years of X-Men after the original "Age of Apocalypse" story arc.
Not nearly as in-depth, pretty much tied up a few loose ends... but what do you expect from a six issue series? It was definitely entertaining and was glad he brought all six issues... not only did it give me something to kill time on my first official day back but it prevent me from being tense from wanting "more".
All in all, I think it was done nicely... great visual art, stable and interesting story with a good flow from start to finish of each individual issues as well as from issue to issue until the big finale at the end of issue number six.
Will say the ending was a bit "too" chipper for my taste... but... in comic books, television, and movies... the bad guys rarely win... and when they do, rarely for long.

Ah well, definitely worth the read.
May invest in a full past & "recent" Age of Apocalypse series in TPB form some day...

Modern Money Mechanics

I really am such a geek.I thought it would be boring, but it's not boring at all. It's easy to read and explains alot of things about why our economy is the way it is.

Three books at once. I'll state now that while I'm deployed (not my first deployment either) that I like to find odd things to read about. Last deployment was psychology (from neuro-lingustic, to being able to read people by body language), quantum physics, and 'goth' books.

I picked back up on the 'goth literature' again this deployment. I sit down and read one by one and compare them section by section (as they all overlap in many common places) and find where they conflict, and it's quite often in the music and fetish sections. Currently I'm picking apart:

Goth Chic
The Goth Bible
Embracing The Darkness (Understanding Dark Subcultures)

It's actually quite funny to see how they all struggle to define the subculture and where it started music wise and who's who in the media as a 'role model' for the culture. I'd have to say that the books are quite painstakingly repetitive in media and history as if they struggle to fill blank pages so there publishers will feel they haven't squandered the money provided to print the book.

So far, of the three 'Goth Chic' has been the worst to read, as it provides nothing but the same information over and over and blurs each chapter together even though they've attempted to differentiate the topics.

It's like Paradise Lost, only more ironic and easier to read.
