Into the horizon I saw it fade
A shining mass of yellow and red
Casting prisms of vivid shade
Through the trees of spindly dead

The crystals hung from limb to limb
Shivering slightly in the breeze
Innately reflecting the end with grim
Believing the darkness would bring them ease.

As the light-half of the year

Crystals dripping now with pain
Flowing to the Earth as rain
