We need a book thread.  So here we go.

Today I received Warrior Women: A History via inter-library loan.  I'm currently on chapter three.  I also have two biographies of the Grimm brothers on my desk because of homework... but I've read those already.  At some point, I need to read all my personal history books (Saxo Grammaticus' Danish History, Davis' Myths and Symbols in Pagan Europe, Connor's Forensic Methods: Excavation for the Archaeologist and Investigator, etc).

Also, the free books cart of the library... nice grab today.

I'm still working on the Women Warriors book. I'm probably going to skip some chapters because I'm not interested in those. I'm just trying to give myself more time to read the other book that just came in today from Interlibrary Loan. It's called The Legend of Brynhild by Theodore M. Andersson. It's a book that looks at Brynhild from the Nibelungenlied.

Re-reading Gothic by Richard Davenport-Hines. A worthy pop-intellectual Autumn read.

I finished with the Brynhild book a week or so ago. Right now, I'm working on my reading assignments instead of the Hun history book I have checked out. I'm not sure if I'll even get around to it.

Currently reading an idiot's guide for HTML5 and CSS3. I'm going to be designing my own website eventually... I need to draw a few pages of webcomic first though.

Trying to get through our current work bookclub book which is a bit difficult so it's been pushed aside to make way for M R James (a seasonal favourite) and the Little Stranger (I've read this book about eight times in two years and it always offers more on each reading)  Smile

I've been reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.
But I get distracted with watching movies and shows. It's taken me longer than I hoped to finish.

I haven't read a book just for fun in 2 years.

Everything I read is a study or some dry piece of public policy.

Any recommendations?

Spider Woman's Daughter.
I was a big fan of all the Tony Hillerman books about crimes in the four corners areas.
When he died I didn't think anyone would pick the series up but I was wrong.
His daughter has been writing them and it's been nice to read something so nostalgic for me.
