Hey guys!

It has been a long time since I was last on talking to all you lovely folks, and now I can really use your help!

I moved August 2010 to Washington state from Florida, and I got rid of nearly all my house stuff. I have been living with family the last year and change. I am hoping to move out and get my own place in the next couple months, but I need the necessities for living on your own. I am also having trouble finding things to my aesthetic.

Does anyone know any good sites or shops to find pretty lovely dark things for home use?

Hey Shortpsycho! Congrats on your move -- you're in a beautiful part of the country, from what I've heard.

When Gareth and I moved into our house in 2008, we were really short on cash b/c I had just had surgery, so we had to get creative with decorating. Literally. As far as wall art, we started out with items I made (collages, acrylic paintings, etc.) and also used adhesive vinyl decals (G works at a sign shop). For furniture, we scanned Craigslist (where I found a baker's rack for $25 -- the owner wanted to move it b/c she was moving out of state -- and G has found tables/magazine racks for free), tag sales, the Habitat for Humanity resale shop -- and overstock warehouses for appliances. But as far as finding items that are just right for you aesthetic-wise: buy cheap and refurbish. Repainting can transform a lot of stuff! Best of luck!
