| I'm thinking about dying my hair again. I haven't decided on a color yet, but does any one know of a good, long-lasting permanent or demi-permanent dye? |

| I use the Feria professional colors from Sally Beauty Supply. I streak copper and dark red into my prebleached hair. The colors last really well. Including the red which shows up as a rich vibrant shade

| I've been using this for 10+ years. Clairol Natural Instincts
Semi-permanent (I'm allergic to most permanent dyes), though if you use it long enough, it's practically permanent. Leaves hair in very good condition. The product itself is not animal-tested, though the parent company unfortunately still does test. Also, it's under $10. |

| for black hair, i use bigen, it's a hair dye from japan, but you can get it in rite aid other beauty supply stores. it has no anmonia and all u gotta do is mix the powder with water and put it on your hair, leave it on for about 45 mins. and voila! it makes my hair shiny and real black like i dipped my hair in black pen ink. (BTW, it's i think #88 blue black, i'm not sure). |

| Ok, here's a list of most of the companies that make really bright unnatural haircolors: Manic Panic, LaRiche Directions, Fudge Paintbox, Splat, Raw, Punky Colors, Special Effects, Beyond the Zone, and NRage.
This website sells most of those brands: http://www.idyemyhair.com
I just used LaRiche Directions' Turquoise and I was not impressed by it. Though its quick fading could be due to the poor quality dye job my hairdressder did, or the fact that blue always fades fast. I've heard great things about Splat and Raw.
Raw is Hot Topic's dye brand and my friend, who has a new hair color every three months swears by it.
Splat is what my other friend uses, she uses the purple color on her hair, unbleached and it stays in for months. You should be able to find it at a Rite Aid or most beauty supply stores.
As far as more natural haircolors go nothing beats Feria, its amazing! Or if you want to go the more natural route you could try using Henna. I recommend Lush brand Henna. http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/haircare/henna-hair-dyes/ |

| I love seeing all the wild hair colors and it makes me wish I still colored mine...sometimes. There are some colors that are really pretty and I love to see a nice blue or a fiery red. I can live without pink and orange, but that's just my personal opinion. There is a lady much older than me (I'd say closer to my hubby's age - 56) at the local antique shop where we procure most of our treasures and she has pink streaks in her hair and it just doesn't look right. She's sweet as can be and of course I'd never say anything to her, but seriously... |

| Lolita: You mentioned Splat -- they've started selling it at a CVS near me, so it might be more widely available in stores now. |

| ^^That's what he used for his blue. It came out very nicely and even covered up this other stuff that made his hair look like crap. |

| When I'm using weird colors I love Manic Panic, but my favorite permanent super-red (and my usual) is Ion liquid dye in Intense Red from the lovely local Sally's. If you're extra sensitive you can buy Ion's own developer which is a bit more expensive, so I just use the Sally brand developer. At Sally's they also sell little packets of something or other that keeps the dye from being so itchy. |

| I love when my hair is the color red it is now or any other crazy colors. The things I hate about dying my hair is: 1) It itchest like hell 2) I can't do it myself. My hair seeps in the dye like a sponge so I need a lot of it. Plus I have a LOT of hair so there is no way I could ever do it by myself and it come out looking decent. 3) Everytime I've ever had my hair dyed it is always messy. It goes everywhere. I've had a few times that I accidentally stained the tub red and the counter purple. |
