I'm hosting a room party at my local sci-fi convention in February. I'm trying to make a playlist, and I've got a lot of stuff already, but since I don't live in a big city I don't have much goth club experience. What are some of your favorite songs to dance to/hear in the clubs?

While I don't go to goth clubs (can't drag the boy), I still love to dance.

Tatu -- Robot (I also like their version of "How Soon Is Now")

I love dancing to stuff by Gogol Bordello, too. Insane ragged gypsy punk.

Might also throw in some Cult.

And this one is not goth, but infectious: Sweet --Ballroom Blitz

I've never been clubbing or anything like that, but here's some songs that I find fun to move to:

    Closer -by- NIN
    Last Firstborn -by- Celldweller
    Zerospace -by- Kidney Thieves

...and after that I'm drawing a blank.

PostSubject: Re: Best club/dancing songs   Wed Oct 28, 2009 5:07 am

The goth club I went to before it got paved over by a baseball stadium had a 'best goth dance song' contest. The winner always seemed to be "Love Will Tear Us Apart," but I never really got why. I think they all just liked that song, ha.

Well, honestly, any 80s synthpop works wonders and most club goths love it, I know I do. As well as current synth music, it works the best, I think.

    VNV Nation
, anything but their horrible slow songs

    Information Society
, lots of goodies, but people love "What's on Your Mind" and "Sonambulistic"

Assemblage 23, "Let The Wind Erase Me" and most stuff off Meta, but "Decades" is awesome

Apoptygma Berzerk, "Suffer in Silence", "Unicorn", "Love Never Dies", "Deep Red", "Half Asleep", "Non-Stop Violence", "Spindizzy"

Clan of Xymox, A lot of their old stuff, but I like "Farewell"

Combichrist, Most of their stuff, but I like "Get Your Body Beat"

    Danse Society, "Wake Up"

Dead or Alive, "You Spin Me Right Round" They have some other good ones, too.

Depeche Mode, "Personal Jesus" is always good, but any song you like will be well-received

Elegant Machinery, Lots of good stuff, but anything off of A Soft Exchange will work wonderfully

Exotic Birds, "This Feeling" and "Rhythm of Machinery" are good

Front 242, Lots of stuff, but "Never Stop V1.0" is nice

    The Glove, "Like an Animal"

Informätik, The whole of Re:vision is good, but I love "Flesh Menagerie"

K.M.F.D.M., Everyone at the club loves "Juke Joint Jezebel"

London After Midnight, I like the "Nothing's Scared" club mix on Violent Acts of Beauty

    Necessary Response, "Spilling Blood"

New Order, Of course, "Blue Monday" and "Bizarre Love Triangle" as well as "Temptation"

    Nitzer Ebb, "Lightning Man"

There's a LOT more in that vein, but I always love hearing those in the club along with any and all 80s song. Gotta get my butt to work!

Terrible to dance to, horrible theme to the song but some people seem to like it and think that they HAVE to like it.

I like a lot of the choices already but you need some Siouxsie particularly Spellbound

^^Oh, agreed, Siouxsie needs to be in there. I was figuring out how to fit some Cure in there, but it all isn't danc-y like I'm thinking. But hey, goths can dance to anything! ;p

I've got some Cure, and some Siouxsie but not that album. But it's on my wishlist :-) I just put a bunch of music on a playlist and I'm weeding out the unsuitable songs.

My roommate and her husband are all about the party....he is a DJ so he will be DJing for me :-) And rommate suggested that we have a raffle where we give out little gothy handmade prizes (like mini top hat, jewelry, armwarmers, etc) and I am going to print out a petition for people to sign if they would like to have a goth/industrial night at a local club, so the club owner can see there really is a demand for it.

Velvet Acid Christ has a LOT of great dance songs. "Discolored Eyes" "Hallucinagene" "Caustic Disco" and "Tripped Out" just to name a few.

Grendel's cover of "Zombie Nation" is awesome

Noisuf-x, like, every one of their songs.

Thanks BadArt, I will Check out those VAC songs. I think I have that Grandel song.

I love Noisuf-X. I heard "Toccata del Terrore" on Youtube and I was like "OMG" so I bought the album. There's only maybe 2 songs on that album I don't like. I also really like Das Ich and God Module.

I had to completely re-rip all my CD's to my computer this week, I was so mad. Itunes is evil and I stopped using my ipod for music.
