PostSubject: Traveling with a laptop   Fri Jul 10, 2009 11:51 pm

I'll be flying to a few places this summer (the ultimate one being Japan) and I've never flown with a laptop before. Has anyone here? I'm probably overly paranoid but I'm just wondering what they do with laptops in customs. Do they open them up and turn them on, or do they just run it through the x-ray machine? I'm mostly just worried about all my music and Limewire.

The TSA website is the place to go for air travel information.

Traveling with batteries and devices

Checkpoint friendly laptop bags

There's also this and this.

Every time I've went through the airport, my laptop went through the Xray. Never damaged my laptop either.

I would be more afraid of it going missing, but then again, I might could benefit from it going missing--and excuse for getting a new one.
