Furoshiki

Furoshiki is the traditional Japanese art of folding cloth to serve a variety of functions. If some of our previous coverage of Furoshiki left you scratching your head, this video might just get you going with imaginative fabric tricks.

Starting with a simple square of cloth, Furoshiki allows you to turn it into everything from a simple bag to a wine carrier. The following video was taken in a well-known Furoshiki shop in Japan. Although the video doesn't cover a wide variety of Furoshiki projects, it does an excellent job showing how to create a simple bag and some handy variations of it. If you've never seen Furoshiki or found penciled diagrams to be less than intuitive, this video should make your next attempt a little easier.
