| Very happy to hear that you and the family get along, Vampira, and that things are indeed falling into place. And his mom calling you her daughter -- that reminds me of when my husband's sister first called me her sister-in-law. That's when it really hit me that I was part of the family. |

| Painted an elephant. It's a 4 foot high fiberglass statue for an arts project in London. It goes on display for a month and then it's to be auctioned at Sothebys. |

| Good luck with the Elephant project!!!
I spent the day working on a collaboration project with a visiting artist. We have an opening on Tuesday, and I'm super-psyched!
Right now I'm home, and just about to make a batch of apple butter. I LOVE making canned foods, and am happy that I managed to obtain enough apples to finally run a batch. |

| Aww..cute elephant Good luck with the art opening, DD! That should be a lot of fun! I went to an open mic night with Brandon last night, which ended with an amazing drum circle. I took lots of photos _________________ | The real power that controls us, is the shameful, endless, consuming, destroying, unquenchable, greed for love |

| I went to a roller derby show with my husband and my mother-in-law! She came down to visit especially so she could go! Carolina RollergirlsWe saw the Debutante Brawlers vs. the Tai Chi-tas. For me, the rules took a while to sink in, but it was pretty exciting. One player was injured during the game (Deviled Legs -- I love the names), but came back out later with a taped-up ankle and kept playing. One good thing I have to say about this area: although it's in the Bible Belt, many people in this city have a genuine curiosity about things they haven't done before. At this show, and at the last couple concerts we've been to here, the audience has been a mixed bag: young, old, couples, families, somewhat multiracial too. Many people here don't automatically assume that any one scene is off-limits to them. That's good to see. |

| I just got back from Bangkok, Thailand! It was a total blast, although we had to keep our guard up and I got really bad food poisoning last night. _________________ Goths don't identify with evil, we mourn the evil in society. | Can't believe I haven't posted this already. Last weekend I went to Atlanta, Georgia to see the Bodies exhibit; I was expecting the place to smell like formaldehyde but there was no smell since the bodies were injected with a special plastic. The exhibit mostly showed how the muscles correlate to our movement, but it also showed how the major organs coordinate together. They also had the entire nervous system separated out from the body. Most interesting was the entire network of blood vessels that make up the body; I had never really appreciated how many vessels there are in the body--it looks like a net. There was also a fetal development display (all the way from a few weeks up until just about ready to be born), but just before you went into that section there was a sort of warning because of all the things on display, fetal development strikes a stronger chord for most people.
We also went to the Atlanta aquarium and the Diana exhibit (which I thought was trite because I never really cared for Diana, and it was annoying that people would crowd around a display). Even thought the aquarium was rather large, it didn't have quite the diversity of species like the Chattanooga one does; it was cute to see a couple of otters playing like cats. The main attraction at the Diana exhibit was her clothes, which I thought were for the most part ugly; her wedding gown was even uglier in person than in the photos.
Even though it wasn't really in our plans to visit The World of Coke, we went ahead and took the tour since it was right down the street from our hotel. I do warn you though, if you hate Coke, they practically have a monopoly in Atlanta.
If you want to eat at a revolving restaurant, there is the Sundial on top of the Westin hotel.
The only thing I brought back (other than my free glass bottle of Coke from the museum) was a spider mood ring. _________________ I'm a werewolf, not a vampire! |

| We live in a small historic town and for many years it's been a hobby of mine to collect lithographs and etc. about it dating from the 1850s to turn-of-the-century.
For years we've had a picture in our home of a gentleman dressed in a suit and proudly standing in his drugstore in 1908. Today after work I was able to get to the museum research library and discovered his name, where he and his family are buried nearby, where the original drugstore building still stands on main street and even got to make a copy of his death certificate.
The man displayed in our picture, beaming with pride as a new shop owner, is no longer a stranger. He now has a name to go along with his friendly face. |
