Pamela Hill – Soul Tears (Black Orchid)
Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:01 pm by ravengrim
Pamela Hill’s oil paintings are an unusual, almost Goth style with dark undertones and mysterious overtones. Usually, oil paints are made with a pigment mixed in linseed oil. If I hadn’t seen Pamela’s studio myself, I would have guessed she mixed her paint using dust from her childhood as the pigment and tears from her soul instead of linseed oil. Many of her works have layer upon layer of meaning...

He Took a Polaroid Every Day, Until the Day He Died

May 21, 2008 - 3:30 PM

Yesterday I came across a slightly mysterious website — a collection of Polaroids, one per day, from March 31, 1979 through October 25, 1997. There’s no author listed, no contact info, and no other indication as to where these came from. So, naturally, I started looking through the photos. I ...

What is "Art"?
Mon Oct 20, 2008 5:34 pm by Apocalypse
Not so much a poll, in fact not a poll at all, but a collection of opinions on what "art" is.

Does art exist to provoke a response whether negative or positive? Does it exist to put a picture to an escape from reality? Or is art just what you call something when you don't understand it? How do you feel about what is considered art and what do you think it's purpose is?

She Had A Death In Me
By: Joan Houlihan

Quote:
She had a death in me, knees drawn up
and my bowl and cloth rinsed through with her.
As morning takes night, field closes the hare,
and ay would burrow into her.

Over the alter, catalpas rattle,

Brian Dettmer: Book Autopsies

American artist Brian Dettmer’s passion for books is not of the standard kind. What once served as reading material on his bookshelves are cut up, glued and torn apart into pieces altering their original state. Epic novels transform into sculpture-like objects that hold a new and compressed meaning and significance – where there was once a story, is now...

Byproducts of Boredom

Some of the songs & poems I've been working on over the last few years, that hopefully will be in a little collection to be printed by the end of this year. Working on getting copyrights and creative property is annoying, so is finding the time with school and work to finish the illustrations.

Goodbye Stranger
“Polaroid unshaken, of a picture perfected unde...
